Who Will Bury the Dead after Armageddon?

Question

If an army of 200 million comes to Jerusalem for the battle of Armageddon and the blood flows to the horses bridles, how will the dead bodies be buried?

Answer

The short answers is: They won’t be buried, they will be removed by resurrection. Daniel stated:

And at that time…there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered…And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. (Daniel 12:1-2).

The scene will be horrific at first and the fowls of the air will feast upon the carcases (Revelation 19:18) but all those who died for Christ during the Tribulation will be raised after Christ returns (Revelation 20:4) and there will be a resurrection to “shame and contempt” for the followers of the Antichrist.

We know that Antichrist will be cast into the lake of fire BEFORE the 1,000- year kingdom begins (Revelation 19:20) and the lake of fire is where resurrected souls go. The souls of the unsaved go to hades at death to await the 2nd resurrection at the end of the millennial kingdom when they will be raised and cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15).

Some writers have confused the invasion of the land of Israel described in Ezekiel 38/39 with the battle of Armageddon. Ezekiel’s prophecy describes an invasion from the north of Israel by Russia (Magog), Turkey (Togarmah), Iran (Persia), Libya, and Sudan (Biblical Ethiopia), but Armageddon involves ALL nations of the world mustered by Antichrist who reigns as God in the 2nd half of the 7-year Tribulation (Revelation 16:12-14).

The northern invasion by Russia and her Islamic allies will bring Israel to repentance and then God will destroy the invading armies on the mountains of Israel. It will take 7 months to bury the dead bodies after that conflict and a burial place will be located in the Valley of Hamongog on the eastern side of the Dead Sea (Ezekiel 39:11-20).

The number of dead bodies after Armageddon will be far greater but they will not be buried. They will be removed by resurrection. Isaiah wrote:

For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall NO MORE COVER HER SLAIN (Isaiah 26:21).

The earth will disclose her dead but will not cover them in the grave.
