Wuan Ballestero was living off the coast of Portugal when the Coronavirus lockdown went into effect. Wuan wanted to visit his 90-year-old Father who lived in Argentina but traveling by plane was not an option for him.
Instead of waiting out the pandemic in the Portugal region, Wuan decided to get a sailing boat to cross the Atlantic to visit his dad. On June 17th this year Wuan completed the 12,000 KM journey reaching his dad in Argentina, 86 days after he set sail. The long voyage was dangerous but the reunion with his dad was worth it all.
At Christmas time we are reminded of an even longer journey. Jesus Christ, God’s Son, journeyed from Heaven to Earth so that humanity could be reunited with God the Father.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:17)
In reality, all of us are socially distant from God because of the pandemic of sin in our lives. Jesus’s journey on earth culminated on a cross at Calvary where He died for the sins of all humanity.
All who receive the good news of the sacrificial death of God’s Son will be reunited one day with God the Father, their creator.
